Brother HL–2240 Laser Printer

The HL–2240 is a compact, monochrome laser printer. Perfect for home or home office use, it features fast printing at up to 24ppm, up to 2400 x 600 dpi resolution for high–quality output and a Toner Save mode for less critical business documents. In addition, the printers stylish, space–saving design fits virtually anywhere.

Drivers available into the future
Pros: printer supported into the future
Brother is known for providing new drivers for its printers.
When an operating system is updated, frequently the printer drivers (and scanner drivers, etc.) become obsolete and the printer no longer works. The printer manufacturer must release new drivers to allow the printer to work with the updated operating system.
HP and other manufacturers have shown their practice to be to not update printer drivers very often, "orphaning" the printer rather than allowing it to remain functional with an updated operating system. The reason is simple: they sell more printers this way.
Brother has a long history of providing new drivers for older printer models.
If you want to keep a printer for a long time, I recommend buying a Brother printer.

Short-lived drivers
Cons: no drivers available in the future
HP is known for not providing drivers for not-very-old models of printer.

Brother is one manufacturer that has shown that it will release new drivers for older printer models.
If you want to keep a printer for a long time, I recommend you not consider an HP printer (or any HP product).
