Fellowes 73ci Shredder - Great Choice
Pros: Sheet Capacity, Jam Free, really quiet, built in timer to prevent overheat, auto-stops when bin is full
Cons: sheet capacity not quite as advertised, bin is far too small, messy to empty
This shredder was purchased for our office to replace a smaller Royal unit that admittedly lasted 7 years. However, it was a total wimp compared to the 73ci. The 73ci is far quieter, eats more paper in less time, and gives some feedback on feed speed and quantity.
Did a lot of research on shredders before buying this one -- looks like the comments were right on. I'm quite happy with it.
An oddity: it changes speed for no apparent reason. It's not bad, but as an engineer, I can't help but wonder why.
Two disappointments:
1. it's the same as the Royal in that it's impossible to empty the bin without paper shreds going every which way. Nature of the beast I suppose, but it would really be great if someone found a fix for this.
2. Sheet capacity: I don't know how manuf's rate this, but both this unit and the Royal couldn't handle the # of sheets advertised unless they were really light weight paper. A bit misleading.
