Very Much Worth It
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features
The wired setup was easy. I could not use the wireless, as I think this might have been because the router is an Apple Time Capsule (500GB). It works with all the computers in my network - Windows Vista, Mac OS X, Windows 7 Windows 2000.

Excellent Value
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features, solid networking performance works flawlessly
This is my third Brother laser printer, and I couldn't be happier. I purchased the HL-2140 for myself for $49 (amazing deal for an excellent laser printer), then found an HL-2170W for $99 my parents which was exceptionally easy to setup/configure with their wireless network. Once I saw the current deal at Office Max, I couldn't resist. Within 15 minutes, I had the new wireless printer up and running on my network, and installed on a few of my XP machines. All of the software worked perfect with my Windows 7 x64 machines as well (Vista x64 drivers can be installed without issue).
I particularly like the fact that the Brother printers make use of paper trays rather than exposing the paper which generally will keep the internals cleaner/clear from dust, effectively lowering your overall operating cost by saving you from having the machine repaired or cleaned. This is also kind of nice because it increases the value of the unit that you are getting, for such a low price. Comparatively, many lower end HP or other brand laser printers in similar price ranges tend to expose the paper being loaded to save on manufacturing costs, because there is less tooling required due to the lack of a paper tray.
Overall, this is an excellent product. Print quality (for maps on Google especially) is great/clear, and I've been recommending these machines to all of my clients, friends, and family.

Setup a breeze and great price
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features, price
Had this out of the box, toner installed and connected to my wireless network in approx. 20 minutes. Using Win XPpro and also a Macbook. Manual strongly recommends that initial setup of printer is done with a WIRED connection between the printer and your router. I did this using the Windows machine and added the Mac wirelessly. Replacing a 5-year old Dell laser which could not be networked and no Mac compatibility. Output speed is acceptable and text/graphics look fine. Should hold up under the amount of printing we do - toner readily available in Omax stores. If I did not pay the sales price of $89.00, I would grouse about the fact that you only get a 'starter' toner cartridge, good for approx 1000 pages. Std yield cartridge is $48 [1500 pages]. Omax branded equivalent is $36 so not bad. I may not live long enough to go through the more costly 'high yield' cartridge or the felling of all the trees required to print that much...
But a networkable [wireless capable] laser printer with decent speed and output quality for under $100 - what's not to like?

Excellent value
Pros: Meets Expectations
I purchased the HL-2170W rather than replacing the toner in my old Samsung printer. I got a faster and smaller printer for about five dollars more than the old printer cartridge. Even with a low volume "starter" toner I am still satisfied with the overall value (replacement toner cartridges for the HL-2170W are half the cost of cartridges for my old printer).
Wireless setup was a minor problem. The printer now works fine running wireless from two laptops and two desktops. It does require installing from the driver disk on each PC, but once setup it works fine.
Half a ream of paper fits fully inside the printer and the print quality is very good. Overall I am very satidfied with the HL-2170W.

Great Home Office Printer
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations
Fast, quiet and efficient. Running with XP, Vista and Windows 7 on a network. Using it wired to my wireless router. Like the hidden paper tray. It was easy to install and worked right away. Learned from a post that when it says it is out of ink it will print another 400 pages with a piece of tape over a certain hole. No complaints at all.

Great value!
Pros: Meets Expectations, Features
Cons: Set up
This printer is a great value! Its a relatively inexpensive laser printer on its own, but the wireless aspects of it make it AWESOME! It was a little tedious trying to get it to connect wireless the first time, but since then I've had no problems at all. It sits on a desk in the other room and I print from my laptop in the kitchen all the time. LOVE IT! It was a great investment.

Brother HL–2170W Mono Laser Printer
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features, fast printing
What can I say, this is a GREAT wireless laser printer. The set-up cannot be any easier. Brother made the installation of their printers incredibly user friendly. The printer is fast and the print quality is sharp. The unit is nice and small so it doesn't take up much space. I've been using it for almost 2 years now without any problems...ever! I have recommended and installed this printer for many people without any complaints. It is an awesome printer.

Great printer for the price!
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features
We shopped carefully for a new B&W laser printer before buying this one. We read about and looked at several over a wide price range. All we needed was a basic B&W printer, so that we could reduce our usage of expensive ink cartridges. What a great choice we made. This thing is amazing. We've had it for several months now and it hasn't missed a beat. We print a lot, and it just keeps working perfectly. The print quality is excellent, and the toner cartridges far exceed the page capacity that we expected of them. We just wanted a good, basic, high quality printer...nothing fancy, and that's exactly what this is. The wireless setup was easy. It looked complicated to me at first, but I just followed the instructions step by step and it worked just like the book said it would. I have nothing bad to say about this machine.

Great Value Laser Printer
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features, great value
Cons: made with cheap plastic
I was able to pick this up on sale and it is a great deal. I had no problems with setup and the print quality is very good. For the price it is a great deal to be able to get a laser printer with decent yield, wireless connection, and a small footprint. I use this on my wireless network and print from both Windows and Linux(Ubuntu) machines. Only issue thus far has been that it will lose its IP address if left idle for some time. But I simply turn off the machine and turn it on again to renew the IP address.

HL-2170W
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features
Normally I do not submit reviews, but I was blown away by the ease of the general setup of this printer. The wireless function, which is the primary reason, was so easy to setup I was astounded. I would definately recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable and quality printer for their home office.

Very Nice Printer
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features
This printer replaced a Kodak all in one inkjet that was needing its 3rd print head in less than 2 years! I installed it as a wireless network printer for a netbook, desktop and laptop. I had no problems by following the instructions and running the software and setup on each of the computers. I have owned it for less than a week and have been impressed with it so far.

Excellent printer with minor problems
Pros: Meets Expectations, Features
Cons: wireless setup is unnecessarily difficult
First let me start off by saying how much I love this printer. This is the second time I have purchased this model, the first one I foolishly sold to buy a multifunction HP(that broke after 6 months) so I went back to something that I knew would work reliably.
My only issue is with the software CD that is included with this printer. I imagine the software was crafted by the devil himself, oddly enough he made the Mac software just as horrible. The printer comes out of the box with wireless turned OFF, so you have to do a array of unnecessary things to get the printer to work in wireless mode. After the rain dance and sacrificial ceremony everything works great.
Over all I am very happy with the printer. I have it up and running on both a Mac and two PC's and have had no problems since the completion of the installation. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to print documents fast or wants something that isn't going to cost them a arm and a leg in ink.

Brother HL5170W
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features
I normally only buy HP laser printers and use several in my company. However, the price was right on this one. Hook up was a cinch with the accompanying CD wherein I even set it up on the network should anyone need to access it. It is really a gem of a printer. I am going back to get the 5340D because it does automatic duplexing which will take a load off the two color laser HP's here in the office.
I have heard great things about the Brother line of lasers, and now I can personally speak to its expectations.

I've had this printer for a couple weeks now, so far it's worked great! I am so happy with it. I hated how slow the ink jet printers were and how they always seemed to need more ink!

Excellent printer and Cust Service
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features
The printer is great, fast, quality print, easy to use and I love that it is wireless. I was especially impressed with the customer service. There were other reviews that complained about the instructions and the telephone service so I was expecting the worst. The set up was easy. I did have one problem in that I forget to add the printer to my printer list on my MAC. I called service, they picked up quickly (after a few quick transfers to the MAC specialist) and it was resolved within a minute or two. Great job.

Believe the Reviews - Great Printer
Pros: Meets Expectations, per page ink cheap
Cons: Features
I have been eyeing this printer for some time and now that I've had it up and running for 3 weeks or so, nothing beats it in terms of price, value, speed and future cost of use. To have a laser printer at home that is wireless and cost-efficient is a dream convenience.
Buy this printer, if you're looking for black and white speed combined with value and wireless capabilities, you will not be disappointed.

Perfect for a Studio/Small Apt./Dorm
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, very small footprint
This is a really dependable B & W laser printer, it is fast and it doesn't jam, and best of all, it is nice and small. The best thing is, you can even stow it under your bed with the wireless....you don't need to have a dedicated place to put it if you're not printing often. I got mine for less than $50 with sales and coupons, so the price is right, too!!
