I bought this shredder to replace a 14 year old Fellowes shredder that was beginning to show signs of wear and tear [my husband still uses it]. This one is much quieter and does a great job of shredding papers with staples, as well as plastic cards and CDs/DVDs. So far I have not been able to cause it to jam while shredding a lot of papers at once. I expect to get a lot of years of service out of this shredder.
I purchased this because I was becoming overwhelmed with paper while doing research etc. Purchased a scanning printer last year to digitalize this information but still had tons of paper to get rid of. My OLD shredder -- if you can call it that was totally inadequate!! LOVE THIS ONE! Now all those documents with information on them like birthdates etc that I had collected for genealogy are safely shredded.
We needed a new shredder and after research opted for the Fellowes 79Ci. It's a great home use shredder; maybe small office also. I wouldn't use it for a larger business because of the smaller capacity; you would have to empty the bin quite a bit. Otherwise, it operates great - very quiet and is jam-proof. I don't ever have to "yank" stuck paper out; the shredder spits it out on it's own. It shreds credit cards, staples and junk mail with no issues. The bin is very easy to remove and empty. I like that it has optional wheels for moving because it is heavy. Overall, as a home user, very satisfied.
