Love This Printer!

Wanted to combine a lot of different equipment and came across this printer on sale at Office Max. Loved the fact that it was wireless. Read a lot of the reviews, and made sure to download the software from HP directly. Everything went smoothly on laptop with Vista with no problems. The printer is very user friendly and easy to setup. Setting it up to work with my wireless connection was very easy, the software took care of everything. I am able to print, scan, and fax using the wireless connection with no problems at all. If you find you are having trouble scanning from the printer to your computer, just make sure you set it up in your software, this way the printer knows to send jobs directly to your computer. Also, with faxing, you may find that the software does not work, if you have a program like Word, just fax through there, ensuring to select the HP fax as your printer. Overall, love this printer, glad I found it when I did.

This would've been a great product, but when it came the door to the printer was broken, so it wouldn't print... we ended up having to wedge something in the sensor so it would print! (Otherwise it would just keep reading it as "door open") and to boot, it's the holidays, I have 100 receipts and finding the one that goes to this printer is not an easy task so I haven't been able to bring it back yet...
In addition, the numbers are tiny and the menu is all on screen so it's a pain to use... would not recommend to someone who isn't technically savvy!

Bought today and returned today - no where on the box or manual does it say that it's not Windows 7 compatible - only when you install software. Suggest you return before Christmas!!! Ended up purchasing HP Photosmart Plus All-in-One Printer - it does not have the fax but it's made much better and IS Windows 7 compatible.

This would be an okay fax for at home. One page at a time. I need to fax out multiple pages to several different customers in a row. It was not made to do that.

WE BOUGHT THIS ALL-IN-ONE TO REPLACE ANOTHER THAT WAS ABOUT 7 YEARS OLD AND THIS ONE IS LIGHTENING FAST BY COMPARISON. MY NEIGHBOR JUST WALKED IN AND DID HER OWN FAXING WITH NO PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS. EVERYTHING IS SELF EXPLANATORY RIGHT ON THE MACHINE INK IS GETTING MORE EXPENSIVE WITH EACH NEW MACHINE BUT IF YOU REFILL THEM YOURSELF WITH THE NUKOTE KIT (AVAILABLE AT OFFICE MAX) YOU CAN SAVE A BUNDLE UNTIL THE CARTRIDGES NEED REPLACING.

All-in-one the way to go

I have had printers that were not all-in one before, and this one is great. It allows for printing, scanning, copying. The ink is a bit too expensive though.
However, you can have ink refilled at some stores, instead of buying them new. I always buy new though, because I'm afraid the refilled ink cartridges won't give as good quality printing.
A great printer, but the price of ink cartridges needs to come way down. As a consumer, I feel a little ripped off, because whe I feel I have made a good purchase, a fair exchange of price for quality of product, I feel like they stick it to me with the price of the ink cartridges.

Great little printer

I've bought my last 4 printers at Officemax. This one has been one of our favorites. Crsip and clear copies and easy to use. Their sale on it was great too so we really got our money's worth and have enjoyed this printer. It's durable and we will keep using it for many of our print needs.

I was not sure I would be happy with the copier/fax machine because it was inexpensive. I was wrong. Print quality, speed and faxing has been great with very few paper jams.

Had difficulty choosing between this and a wired printer. This one is ideal. No wires to worry about if you need to move it. Worth the money over a wired printer. HP is the best!!

If you need an all-in-one for your home office, look no further! The HP J4680 is the one. It is very reliable. It prints clearly, giving good definition to letters and pictures. It is wireless network ready so while you are multi-tasking in your comfortable living room - working on your laptop enjoying your favorite show on your big screen TV and finishing up a report, it can all be printed without you leaving your popcorn and soda! The HP J4680 can also use the HP 901xl print cartridge. The 901xl print cartridge is an excellent value and will give you at least 3 times the amount of printing power. We’ve been using ours daily for a variety of needs for over two months now. We haven’t had a single paper jam or missed fax. Now, for the best part of all…the price. We went to OfficeMax to check out printers. The customer service person was knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. We compared prices with a couple other stores and OfficeMax had the best deal, especially when we used our MaxPerks rewards...SWEET!

I really like the printer. It has the best print quality of any printer I have used so far. The paper tends to get jammed once in a while. It was very easy to set up and the wireless is wonderful! Sending a fax is very easy. Cannot comment on receiving one. I got it on sale for 99.99 and couldn't have spent my money better.

Poor quality construction

Bought it for it's "all in one" features. Prints great, but the automatic document feeder doesn't work well. It takes the 1st page and on the 2nd it jams and the gears make a horrendous noise. I spent 4 1/2 hours with HP support (from India, I think). They just read their prepared questions regardless of what the real problem is. A paper jam to them meant the printer jamming not the ADF. Finally got them to replace it, but the replacement is starting to do the same thing. Poor quality and poor support. This is probably my 15th HP printer, and my last one.

HP J4680 Great Starter Printer

I have used the fax via the feeder as well as from my computer and it works very well. I have not received any faxes at this time, so cannot report on receiving.
The scanner is a very good one with the feeder, it makes multi page option very useful for faxing or multi page documents as you see in companies. As I said, darned useful and a great option.
I have used the copier function. I prints off and does not allow the feed option to accomodate the offset. I need to move the copy to the right.
The printing function works very well.
NOTE: When printing in fast/draft mode, there is a hiccup in printing about an inch or so from the point where it starts printing.
Overall, a very good quality printer/copier/fax/scanner.
This has made looking for a job much easier and I can apply for more positions with the fax option.
