Pros: Dependability, Features, tastes like chicken, value, Ease of Use, availibility
Cons: none
After scouring online sources for ram until my eyes blead, I remembered to check my friendly local Office Max. The Crucial ram I got at Office Max (at the same or better price as online) worked perfectly. Getting it w/o waiting for shipping was great, but also knowing I could deal w/a local store if I had a problem made all the difference.
I don't know everything about high-performance ram except for compatibility, but this 800mhz 6400 ram works with my 667 ram 5300 (2x512mb) just fine. No errors at all in the short test I ran so far. The computer recognised it flawlessly.
Just remember to upgrade chips in pairs to utilize the dual-channel feature. That makes this 2x1MB "kit" perfect for computers with 1GB (2x 512mb) already installed, because 3MB is all that 32-bit systems can recognise, afaik. Highly recommended. My unit is a basic Dell, at 3 years old, it's about the same performance as current mid-grade systems with this extra ram installed.
I never bought more ram ever before because it wasn't worth it vs upgrading the whole machine, this purchase is WELL worth it. (Add a flash USB thumbdrive for extra cache memory if you run Vista or W7, a simple and cheap "Memory Boost".
Thanks again Office Max!
