Unpackaged it, plugged it in, and it works perfectly. Both the keyboard and the mouse feel good to the hands as well.
Did not install the software, so I don't have all of the whistles and bells it offers, but I knew that going in. Will save that for the new puter (which I hope will be coming shortly).
Wish I hadn't waited so long to upgrade my old keyboard and mouse.
This is the 3rd Microsoft keyboard/mouse set, and as usual, I'm completely satisfied. The keys are soft touch making it much easier to type (also increasing my typing speed). The customized shortcut keys are very handy; it makes it much easier to open programs by pushing a button. The multi-use program shortcut keys (close, open, print, save, etc.) work excellent with all my programs.
My Logitech Wave keyboard/mouse died, so I ran to Officemax and decided to try the Microsoft Comfort 5000 Series. This series is ok for data entry as long as you didn't use the F2 in Excel that often. I am an AutoCad user and have found myself quite frustrated with this keyboard when it comes to using my ESC & function keys. They are not the size of the normal keys; they are nearly flat and much smaller. There is not enough distinction between the ESC/Function keys and the shortcut key above them and you can easily press one of the number keys trying to press a Function key. I have to look when I press the ESC key because I have not adjusted to its size. The keyboard is quite, but the mouse has a loud click. The mouse actually has a squeeking noise when I left click; like plastic rubbing on plastic. Very annoying. It is a good keyboard/mouse series, but just not for AutoCad use. I would carry it back if I hadn't thrown the box away. I will be buying the Logitech Wave Series again shortly to replace this keyboard/mouse.
