Pros: Meets Expectations, Features, ink lasts better than most
Cons: Set up
This is a great little printer for everyday usage. The size is small enough that it can fit on your desk and the speed is quite good. I love having duplex capability and wireless is a must nowadays. What I probably haven't spent enough time to resolve is the wireless installation. It installed successfully through one PC and everyone can print to it through that person's PC, but the printer doesn't show up by itself on the network like the wireless Epson that we have. So I can't say that it's effortless to install.
The printer performs very well. It will jam if using paper with 3 holes in automatic duplex, but in manual duplex this same paper will do fine. Other than than, this printer performed very well once understood. The four stars for ease of use refer to the initial difficulty in learning how to use this particular printer. Also some surprising behavior when the printer thought it detected a problem when there was no none and from there proceeded to "correct" and this correction ruined the whole job.
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features, wireless setup easy
This is a small footprint printer with the large printer capabilities. The only drawback is manual feed. It only take one at a time, if you don't do manual feed often, then this is the printer. Otherwise, purchase a next model. The 5 point font is clear, and sharp, if you can read that small. However, envelope or thick card stock need open the back for straight through printing. Wireless setup is easy, just follow the instruction.
I bought this printer because I was tired of spending way too much money buying ink for my inkjet printer. Since most of our printing is black and white, this laser printer is great for us. It prints fast and the toner cartridge will last a long time. The printer is a quite noisy when its printing but after a short while it goes into sleep mode and is silent. Note that this printer will only go into deep sleep if you use a wired ethernet cable or USB cable, it does not support deep sleep if you use wifi. Since I am using wired ethernet this is not a problem for me but beware. Like others, I too notice that the CFL lights in my house blink when this printer is printing. Not a big deal but I knocked off one star for this issue. The wiring in my house is modern and correct so I don't believe the comments from some that it's the house's wiring that is insufficient. This printer draws a lot of current for very brief periods when printing and this must be the cause of the lights blinking. Again it's the CFL bulbs that are mostly affected.
