I have been using an inkjet printer for more than 10 years now and I was tired of spending $40 on ink cartridges. My ink cartridge days are over (well except for printing color I guess...) but, I just love my new HL-2240!!! It is SO fast!! When I print and it needs to warm up it takes no more than 15 seconds to get the first page out. If it has already warmed up it seems like it immediately begins printing and I have the first page out within 5 seconds at least! We homeschool so I print A LOT!!!
The only problem I have had is when I use the self feed it doesn't always pull the paper in perfectly straight, but I think it was partially my fault as I wasn't checking to see if it was straight before I printed.
I print on regular paper and cardstock and it doesn't have a problem with either, I haven't had a paper jam or any other problem with the printer!
It was easy to install on Windows 7, I plugged it in and about 30 seconds later it had the driver installed and was ready to go! I have set my default printing to toner save and I honestly cannot tell the difference between that and regular printing. I just can't say enough about the printer! I've been using it for about a month now and it has definitely lived up to my expectations!!
As a rule ,most low end inkjet printers last as long as the ink thats included. For me I only print in black ... reciepts mostly and the color usially dried up , so the laser printer was my best option, again low end of the group. My grand parents used a " brother "cash regester" it ran forever. ..thats why I bought the brother hl-2240. low cost product that fits my needs.
