Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features, scan to thumb drive
I purchased the HP8600 Premium first to test it out and it passed with flying colors. Easy to install, uses less ink than my toner eating printers. Quality of print good and love the two sided print feature. I was also impressed that you can scan to a memory card or thumb drive you insert on the front of the printer. You have the ability to name the scanned file also. I was so impressed I purchased 3 of the HP8600 Pro mid range for my staff and 1 of the low end 8600 for remote use. Handles high volume printing as well though the drying time is a little slow.
Finally got fed up with old HP wireless printer. Kept going offline. Salesman recommended the HP 8600 printer. Plus it was on sale. Easy setup. Printing is really fast. Quality of color picture printing very good. Haven't had it for 24 hrs yet. So haven't encountered that sleep problem another reviewer had. But that is not a big deal to me. So what if you have to manually wake it up after 24hrs. It's saving energy when you are not using it. Copying works great also. Haven't tried fax or scanner yet. But so far, very happy with purchase.
I set my HP 8600 Plus up all by myself...it was that easy. Connected to the wireless internet, prints and scans like a charm. We have VM through Comcast, so I can't use the fax line, but I hope I never have to fax, I'd rather scan and email. I would suggest this to anyone.
The eprint worked once and not again - I don't need it. The scanner gave streaked copy on four occasions The computer couldn't find the printer on six occasions all the above in the first ten days of operation On advise of the HP tech folks, I changed the Cable and port as well as the power connection directly into the 120 outlet, as the 8600 has an internal surge protector. The cartridges are very expensive and there are four of them, but the black one is suposed to last for 3,200 pages. I print in draft - we'll see. It has a good card reader. It scans and prints quickly and I like it so far. I give it a four. That's the best I can do so far.
