Pros: Meets Expectations, it's wireless/ print speed/quality is acceptable
Cons: set up could be confusing
Overall performance seemed ok for the price. I am an I.T. person so setup was not bad, but could be challenging for a novice. In 20 minutes I had it set up and printing wireless on a Win 7 notebook. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully. Print quality looked good and print speed seemed average. No CD setup needed for a Win 8 computer, as it found the device automatically. Durabilty and longevity to be determined. Cost of cartridges looked in line with other brands. If you want more print cartridge life make a change in printer settings to a faster (draft) mode. It's on sale for $50 at a major office supply store, and that's about what it's worth.
I bought this printer on Black Friday for under $30. Was hesitant after reading all the bad reviews, but I took the plunge. I set up two laptops (both running Windows 7) using the provided CD and I was done in 15 min. Since my wifi network doesn't have a WPS button, I hooked up the usb cable initially in order for the printer to find the network... it found it quickly, I then unplugged the USB cable and started printing wireless for the first time. Setup on the second laptop was even faster, as that one found the networked printer right away (setup under 6 min). I was so pleased that I then tried to use my Asus Android tablet to print... I found the Canon Easy Photo app, downloaded it, and it found the printer right away. I was able to scan something from the printer right to my tablet... this setup only took 5 min! My advice, follow the instructions to the letter, and you should be fine. My ONLY hiccup in the whole process was when I initally hooked up the USB cable to my laptop, the computer didn't recognize the USB port or printer... I then unplugged the cable, tried another USB slot, and it worked just fine!
I really like the quality of the photos I print, but the paper pictures have really bad quality. I also feel this printer uses way too much ink for printing. I printed maybe six photos, provided they were set to high quality prints, but that was all I have printed period... on this printer, but those six photos used all of my ink on brand new cartridges. Still, in all, I would recommend this product for high quality photos.
