HORRIBLE
Cons: Does Not Meet Expectations
This is the worst printer I have used in years. It keeps going offline no matter what I do. When I contact Brother for service they keep telling me it's not connected correctly. Nonsense. It prints sometimes and it scans all the time. So you can't tell me it's not connected correctly. A one page document sometimes comes out on 3 separate pages and it can take up to 10 minutes to come out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a dozen times - literally. I'm over it. I'm going to throw it out the door soon. It's not worth the headaches to keep it. I'll spend another $150 and save myself hours and hours of headaches and re-installs and troubleshooting.

Good Buy
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features, speed is great
Cons: louder, scan feed tray a bit akward angle
I had to replace our old brother MFC 490cw due to an internal leaking ink issue. We had it for over 10 years. This model MFC-J8700W seems just as simple to use. It is quite a bit faster on printing and scanning. Does seem a little louder though. Haven't used all the adjustments and fuction options yet but, has a very simple menu. Easy to use. I like the fact that this model does take the larger volume ink tanks if needed.

So Far, So Good
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations, Features
Cons: haven't found one yet.
Haven't had it very long, but so far, it's working great. It was easy to set up, and it doesn't seem to be sucking up ink the way my Canon Pixma did. I was able to print a couple of envelopes without a problem - something I was never able to do on my Canon. For my needs, it was a good buy, and I'm very satisfied with this printer.
