I loved everything about this printer except the print quality. The print quality was awful. It was like I wrote in pencil, and if I chose best quality, it took a very long time to print and only came out as good as draft quality on my HP printer. I would not recommend this printer.
So far a great printer, perfect for home use. Easy to make copies and scan things too. The only thing I would change is the paper tray, which has to be removed from the printer to load it. But that's not a reason not to buy it. Also the 4 individual ink tanks are a big plus.
I bought this printer in a OfficeMax store in ABQ and they matched their own internet price of $99.99. In-store price is $149.99. Installation failed twice and then I turned off my virus protection and the install went well after that. The manual does not mention turning off your PC virus protection.
Another interesting thing: The MFC-J870DW and the MFC-875DW are identical (per Brother tech support) and they use the two models to market different stores. BB carries the MFC-J875DW.
OfficeMax also matched prices with BB on the 103 series ink cartridges.
I used wired Ethernet and the MFCJ870DW is faster than the HP wired Ethernet inkjet printer it replaced.
If you buy this printer, consider turning off the printer when not in use as it will "clean" the nozzles every two days and consume ink. It might do this even when powered off...I need to check.
Overall I am fairly pleased with the Brother so far.
