Do Not Buy This Printer!
Cons: Does Not Meet Expectations, Set up, nothing about it worked properly
Despite the overall good ratings this all-in-one has been given, I would not recommend anyone purchase this machine as apparently some of them are real lemons, and you don't know which one you have until you try it. I've had other HPs before that worked great, but this machine was a problem from the get-go with the entire electrical system shot: it would freeze in the "on" position and would not turn off without being unplugged; after 3 to 10 minutes of being on the touch control panel would freeze so that you couldn't change the settings. It would not recognize a USB connection to the PC and would give a "not communicating" error when you tried to send something to print. I did not give up easily and had a professional IT rep try to help me configure it, who contacted HP after he had no luck, and even the HP tech could not get it to hold the printer connection settings. After that I gave up and, thankfully, my local OfficeMax was great and let me swap it for an Epson equivalent, which is working perfectly so far.

Good Buy
Pros: Easy to Use, Features
Cons: Does Not Meet Expectations, Set up
The HP Officejet Pro 8600 was a good purchase, but set-up was not so simple.
The 2 side copying feature is a separate set-up, which I did not know.

definitely skip this model
Cons: Features, Does Not Meet Expectations, Set up
this printer worked fine for about 8 months, then the trouble began - I won't bore you with all the details. But at first I could not scan more than 5 pages before I'd get an error message. It was still under warranty so I called HP - spent 3 hours on the phone with them and they could not fix it. I should have returned it right then and there, but stupidly I didn't. Now the "scanner actions" button has disappeared. I've now spent 3 hours trying to figure out what is wrong to no avail. The online HP support only makes things worse. I've unintalled and reinstalled the software several times. I did a system restore to back before this problem started. Did not help. So, now I cannot scan at all.

Nice printer
Pros: Easy to Use, Meets Expectations
Cons: Set up
I needed to print a project immediately. The installation went without a hitch and the 1st document looked great!
